John Engelaan, with over 35 years of experience, joins SkyTeam Cargo as VP. His expertise will bolster the alliance’s global cargo operations.
In a move aimed at strengthening its global cargo operations, SkyTeam Cargo has appointed John Engelaan as its new Vice President Cargo. Engelaan brings with him over 35 years of extensive international experience in the aviation industry.
Prior to his appointment, Engelaan served as the Vice President of Global Fleet at Swissport, where he oversaw the management of 60,000 ground support equipment (GSE) assets across 275 airports in 45 countries. His responsibilities included not only managing ground handling, cargo, and fueling operations but also spearheading initiatives for long-term sustainability goals such as reducing CO2 emissions and enhancing the electrification of GSE.
Engelaan’s career has also seen him in senior positions at Air France-KLM and Martinair Cargo. He has held directorial roles in various regions, including Spain, Portugal, the Gulf, Iran, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh, gaining invaluable insights into diverse international markets.
Teddy Zebitz, Chair of SkyTeam Cargo’s executive board and Chief Executive of Saudia Cargo, expressed confidence in Engelaan’s appointment, citing his extensive experience and hands-on approach as assets that will contribute to the alliance’s mission of delivering seamless and responsible service through innovative products and technology.
