SDHI and Varex Imaging to co-produce high-energy cargo and vehicle inspection systems under Make in India.
Swan Defence and Heavy Industries (SDHI) has entered into a strategic agreement with Varex Imaging Corporation, USA, to manufacture advanced cargo and vehicle inspection systems in India. The partnership marks a significant step toward strengthening indigenous capabilities in security imaging.
Under the agreement, SDHI will exclusively produce Varex’s high-energy imaging systems at its Pipavav facility in Gujarat. These systems will be deployed at ports and land borders to inspect various cargo types, addressing growing security needs and enhancing inspection efficiency nationwide.
Varex Imaging, headquartered in Salt Lake City, is a global leader in linear accelerators and imaging technology. Its collaboration with SDHI supports the Government of India’s Make in India initiative by introducing cutting-edge technology to the domestic manufacturing ecosystem.
SDHI, known for its shipbuilding and heavy fabrication capabilities, operates India’s largest dry dock and has a fabrication capacity of 144,000 tons per year. The tie-up positions SDHI to contribute significantly to India’s security infrastructure while expanding its industrial footprint in the defence and inspection systems sector.
