Australian supply chain veteran Scott McKay takes charge as ICHCA Chair, reinforcing the global cargo safety mission.

The International Cargo Handling Association (ICHCA) has elected Australian logistics veteran Scott McKay as its new Chair, effective 30 September, marking a significant leadership transition for the global cargo handling body.
With a career spanning nearly four decades in supply chain management, McKay brings deep expertise across warehousing, container rail, road transport, intermodal, and bulk port operations in Europe, Asia, and Australia. His appointment is expected to strengthen ICHCA’s mission of improving safety, productivity, and efficiency across the global cargo handling and maritime logistics chain.
Commenting on his appointment, McKay said, “I see that ICHCA has a fantastic opportunity to further develop gathering, analysing and sharing safety data and best practice to help improve safety decisions and cultural change along and across the cargo supply chain.”
McKay’s journey with ICHCA began seven years ago when he joined the Australian state chapter, later becoming Chair of ICHCA Australia and a member of the international board in November 2023.
Beyond his role at ICHCA, McKay is the founder and CEO of Flywheel Advisory, guiding businesses to use supply chain excellence as a competitive advantage. He also serves as CEO of T Ports, an innovative bulk grain handler that brings deep seaports closer to growers through advanced transhipping solutions for global grain traders.
McKay succeeds John Beckett, who steps down after an illustrious 18 years of service, including eight as Chair. Beckett lauded his successor, saying, “Scott is a highly appropriate professional to be taking on the role of ICHCA Chair. He inherits a growing, diverse membership united by the common goal of improving safety across the industry.”
