India and Russia pledge to boost maritime partnership. Senior officials discussed shipbuilding, Arctic operations, and logistics to fortify strategic ties.

On the 17th of November, 2025, the Union Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowa, and H.E. Nikolai Patrushev, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation and Chairman of the Russian Maritime Board, led high-level interagency meetings between India and Russia in New Delhi. Senior officials and specialists from both countries convened to discuss the entire range of maritime cooperation.
The talks underlined India and Russia’s strong and long-lasting Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership, which is based on respect, trust, and a common goal of sustained strategic and economic cooperation. Both parties recognised President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s outstanding leadership, which continues to influence the growing India-Russian friendship. It covered a variety of topics to investigate potential cooperation and collaboration, such as shipbuilding, commerce, economic, scientific, and technical cooperation.
Both parties reiterated their commitment to strengthening collaboration across shipbuilding, port development, marine logistics, Arctic operations, research, and training, and they expressed satisfaction with the thorough and forward-looking discussions. The meeting ended with a common goal to create a more robust, effective, and sustainable maritime collaboration that enhances regional and global connections and advances the long-term prosperity of both countries.
