The maiden call of CMA CGM Cypress opens direct India–Middle East–Canada trade via PSA Halifax.

PSA Halifax has strengthened its global container connectivity with the maiden call of the vessel CMA CGM Cypress, marking the launch of CMA CGM’s INDAMEX service at the PSA Halifax Atlantic Hub and deepening direct maritime links with the Indian Subcontinent and the Middle East.
The new INDAMEX loop establishes a direct trade corridor connecting major South Asian and Middle Eastern ports with Canada’s East Coast, positioning Halifax as a key gateway for South Asia–North America cargo flows.
The CMA CGM Cypress, with a capacity of 8,586 TEUs, is among the first vessels deployed on the service. PSA Halifax said the INDAMEX rotation is expected to handle ships of up to 10,000 TEUs, supported by the terminal’s deep-water berths, mega-ship cranes and on-dock rail infrastructure.
Inland connectivity is further strengthened through CN Rail, which provides direct rail access from Halifax to Montreal, Toronto and the US Midwest, offering shippers faster and more reliable end-to-end logistics options for both imports and exports.
PSA Halifax noted that the addition of the INDAMEX service will drive sustainable volume growth, diversify trade corridors for Canadian businesses, and reinforce Halifax’s role as a strategic container hub in Eastern North America.
