In an exclusive interview with CargoInsights, Vineet Malhotra, Co-Founder & Director, Kale Logistics Solutions, speaks further about their journey.
Kindly elaborate on the services offered by Kale Logistics to the industry.
Kale Logistics is an innovative company founded on extensive industry knowledge and technical expertise. We are regarded as the forerunner of numerous pioneering technology-driven solutions that have transformed the global logistics industry. Our innovative offerings have earned us the honour of being named one of the top ten innovations in the Indian Logistics Industry by KPMG. We were also featured as a case study in a book written by Kellogg Business School professors for our innovations.
Kale’s community and enterprise solutions serve a large number of Logistics Service Providers (LSPs) who have improved their operational and business capabilities. Most notably, we have been the recipient of United Nations awards on several occasions.
As an industry patron, Kale is at the forefront of reaching out to the industry with suite of e-services for air cargo and maritime. E-documentation, e-delivery orders, e-Certificate of Origin, e-Manifest, and other e-Services for advance shipment information from Kale will help the industry by promoting e-trade.
What role does digitization play in the logistics supply chain sector?
Due to the pandemic, the logistics community has changed the way data is managed and exchanged. For many years, the systems relied on legacy processes and were mostly paper-based. Aside from that, the logistics community has recognised technology’s potential and the limitless opportunities it can provide in terms of efficiency, sustainability, and absolute ease of doing business.
We implemented the Maritime Single Window, which is now mandated by the International Maritime Organization to be implemented in all ports by January 2024.
What new digital initiatives have you launched?
Kale is proud that its systems currently handle 85per cent of all air cargo in India. We serve over 100 air cargo stations worldwide. We are working to broaden the reach and depth of our community platform by delivering value-added features like complete enterprise applications for customs brokerage and freight forwarding.
We are also developing, the world’s largest digital logistics cloud for the international supply chain, Sea-Air corridors to facilitate intermodal cargo movement and incorporate deep tech use cases from IoT, Blockchain, AI, and ML into our community platforms. Our large communities will be integrated with our still-in-development logistics e-marketplaces.
Are you pleased with the company’s growth and what are your long-term plans?
We were confident that the industry would recover and that technological adoption would continue to grow. Cloud-based and SaaS-based solutions are becoming popular. This year, we plan to digitise more airports and ports. We have already digitally transformed over 100 Air Cargo Stations and are in discussions with 40 more airports and ports. We implemented the Maritime Single Window, which is now mandated by the International Maritime Organization to be implemented in all ports by January 2024. We are collaborating with global organisations to give digital policies and initiatives a boost.
