PHDCCI’s summit focused on advancing India’s logistics sector for global excellence.
On August 9, 2024, the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) organised the 2nd Edition of the National Logistics Summit 2024, with the theme ‘Local to Global: Revolutionising Indian Industry through Logistics Excellence.’ The summit aimed to unite industry experts, policymakers, and stakeholders to discuss critical challenges and explore opportunities to elevate Indian logistics to global standards.
Dr. Surendra Ahirwar, Joint Secretary, Logistics, DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, served as the Session Chair and announced the government’s development of a National Logistics e-Marketplace. N. Sivasailam, Former Special Secretary- Logistics, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, highlighted the sector’s transformation through key initiatives like the India-Middle East Corridor, Direct Port Delivery (DPD), the operational deep-sea port at Vietnam, and the upcoming Vadhavan Port and Nicobar Project.
Ravindra Kumar Jain, Former Managing Director, Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India (DFCCIL), discussed how Dedicated Freight Corridors (DFCs), including the Western and Eastern Corridors, are transforming India’s logistics.
In his welcome address, Dr. Ranjeet Mehta, CEO & Secretary General, PHDCCI, emphasised the summit’s theme as a vision that is both ambitious and essential. Pawan Jain, Chair, Logistics Committee, PHDCCI, shared an industry perspective, noting that India’s logistics industry is at a pivotal moment. Ravinder Sethi, Co-Chair, Logistics Committee, PHDCCI, extended the formal vote of thanks to all participants and contributors.
The summit featured six thematic sessions, including discussions on Agile Logistics, innovations in Dedicated Freight Corridors, smart digital freight solutions, and sustainability in the logistics industry. Additionally, the sessions explored adapting supply chains amid geopolitical uncertainty, the importance of standardisation and certification in building trust, and simplifying regulatory processes to enhance the ease of operations in logistics.
The event attracted over 35 speakers and more than 200 delegates, showcasing diverse perspectives from across the logistics industry.
