NPG’s 97th meeting evaluated key infrastructure proposals to strengthen logistics and multimodal integration.

The 97th meeting of the Network Planning Group (NPG) convened to assess five key infrastructure projects under the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan. These include three proposals from the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) and two from the Ministry of Railways (MoR), aimed at enhancing multimodal connectivity and logistics efficiency.
Among the road projects, the Dwarka Tunnel will provide an alternate route to IGI Airport and decongest NH-48. The Patna-Purnia 6-lane expressway will link key airports and support regional development across six districts. The Suratgarh–Sri Ganganagar highway widening project will enhance defense logistics and interstate trade in Rajasthan and Punjab.
Railway projects include a new Baddi–Ghanauli line to boost industrial movement in Himachal Pradesh and Punjab, and the doubling of the Kanalus–Okha rail section in Gujarat, a vital route for pilgrims and port-linked freight.
All five projects, two brownfield and three greenfield, were evaluated for their alignment with GatiShakti principles, aiming to deliver long-term socio-economic and strategic benefits across regions.
