NHLML terminates UK-based Delta Corp’s ₹660-crore Nagpur dry port project and plans fresh bids to revive key logistics hub.

In a significant development for India’s logistics infrastructure, the National Highways Logistics Management (NHLML), a subsidiary of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), has terminated its contract with UK-based Delta Corp for the development of the Nagpur Multi-Modal Logistics Park (NMLP), popularly known as the Sindi Dry Port.
The termination comes after the company reportedly failed to meet key project milestones outlined in the stage-wise development schedule. Following an initial notice seeking clarification and unsatisfactory progress, NHLML served a final termination notice, effectively ending the 45-year concession agreement.
Delta Corp, which was awarded the project in 2023, has challenged the termination in court. The company declined to comment when contacted.
The Sindi Dry Port is one of the flagship projects of Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, envisioned as a major logistics hub under the PM Gati Shakti programme. The park was to be developed over 150 acres on the Nagpur–Wardha border with an investment of over ₹360 crore and a total estimated project cost of ₹660 crore.
Planned as a critical multi-modal logistics node, the facility aims to integrate rail and road connectivity, offering direct links to major seaports. Once operational, it is expected to house warehouses, cargo handling zones, and allied facilities, transforming central India into a major logistics and supply chain hub.
An official from NHLML confirmed that the agency is now preparing to invite fresh bids for the project while also exploring the possibility of executing the development in-house to ensure faster completion.
“Given the strategic importance of the project, NHLML is committed to ensuring that the Nagpur Multi-Modal Logistics Park is delivered on schedule. We are evaluating new implementation models to avoid further delays,” the official added.
The Sindi Dry Port, once revived, is expected to play a pivotal role in easing freight movement, reducing logistics costs, and boosting regional trade connectivity across central India.
