Menzies Aviation, a prominent service provider to airports and airlines, continues its European expansion with the acquisition of a majority stake in Cargo Handling Services (CHS) at Sofia International Airport (SOF), Bulgaria. CHS, established in 2016, offers a range of cargo services at SOF, including warehousing, import and export handling, mail services, and temperature-controlled storage. With this joint venture, Menzies Aviation expands its presence to 50 airports in 17 countries across Europe, solidifying its status as a global player in the industry.
The strategic move is expected to bolster CHS significantly, as it gains access to Menzies’ renowned global network, best-in-class standards, and advanced systems. The airport’s strategic location, with scheduled connections to major European business centers and 21 airlines served, presents immense growth potential for CHS under Menzies’ ownership.
Miguel Gomez Sjunnesson, Executive Vice President, Europe, Menzies Aviation, emphasises the investment’s aim to accelerate growth and enter emerging aviation markets. The deal reflects Menzies’ commitment to increasing its market share at Sofia Airport, supporting Bulgaria’s long-term prospects in the aviation industry.
