Lulu Group is set to open a logistics and food processing centre in Amritsar, Punjab.
Abu Dhabi-based Lulu Group International, renowned for its vast network of shopping malls, hypermarkets, and food processing centers across the Middle East, Far East, and Africa, is expanding its footprint to Amritsar, Punjab. The group is establishing a logistics and food processing centre in the city, aiming to bolster the local economy and provide a significant boost to Indian agricultural products on the global stage.
Lulu Group has been instrumental in marketing Indian agricultural goods worldwide, offering a platform for Indian products in its hypermarkets. This initiative is set to enhance the visibility and accessibility of Indian goods in international markets, fostering increased trade opportunities and economic growth.
The new centre in Amritsar will focus on storage, processing, grading, and packing of local agricultural produce, thereby supporting local farmers, SMEs, agricultural cooperatives, and farmer producer organisations.
Salim MA, Director of Lulu Group, highlighted the vibrant business environment of Amritsar and its thriving SMEs. He emphasised that the new centre will provide a dedicated market for local produce, ensuring better revenue for farmers and creating significant job opportunities in Punjab.
The group has already initiated discussions with Taranjit Sandhu, and a team from Lulu Group will soon visit local SMEs and suppliers to finalise this collaboration. This expansion is poised to enhance trade and economic prospects for the region, marking a significant development in Lulu Group’s ongoing commitment to Indian agriculture and local economies.
