Defence Minister says logistics determined the outcome of Operation Sindoor post-Pahalgam attack

Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh on Sunday highlighted the pivotal role of logistics in the success of Operation Sindoor, launched by the Indian armed forces in May to dismantle terror infrastructure in Pakistan following the Pahalgam attack. Speaking virtually at the 3rd convocation of Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, Singh said logistics management by multiple agencies enabled swift and effective military mobilisation.
“Victory and defeat on the battlefield are decided by logistics,” Singh stated, crediting time-bound delivery of arms, ammunition, fuel, and supplies as the core reason for the operation’s success. He urged that logistics be seen not merely as transport but as a strategic pillar of national security.
Singh elaborated on how effective logistics empower the Army, Navy, and Air Force, from ensuring an uninterrupted fuel supply for jets to the timely delivery of spares for naval vessels. He warned that even advanced weapon systems are futile without the logistics to support their deployment.
He also praised the PM Gati Shakti initiative, calling it a crucial step toward building an integrated multi-modal logistics network that strengthens India’s defence and disaster readiness.
