Kandla Port signs MoU with Green-Kutch NextGen to boost the maritime green hydrogen sector and create local jobs.

The Deendayal Port Authority at Kandla has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Green-Kutch NextGen to accelerate the development of a sustainable energy network. The agreement was finalised during the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference held in Rajkot on 11th January 2026. This collaboration serves as a vital component of the National Green Hydrogen Mission, aiming to foster community involvement in the maritime energy transition.
The primary objective of this partnership is to strengthen the position of small and medium-sized enterprises within the green energy sector, stimulate local employment, and drive environmental decarbonisation. As part of the project, the port authority will establish the Kutch Green Hydrogen Park. This hub will feature integrated, ready-to-use infrastructure, allowing industrial partners to install modular systems for the production and storage of green hydrogen, supporting the national goal of achieving net-zero emissions.
In a separate but related development, the Kandla facility achieved a major milestone in its digital strategy. On 1st January 2026, the port fully implemented its Enterprise Business System. This comprehensive digital platform is designed to lower operational expenses, enhance the visibility of supply chains, and simplify procedures for all maritime stakeholders and port users.
The regional conference, which took place on 11 and 12 January 2026, focused heavily on sustainable infrastructure and renewable energy. It provided a venue for high-level discussions between government officials, industry specialists, and innovators to coordinate on energy security and industrial growth. Through these initiatives, the region aims to solidify its role in the national journey towards energy self-sufficiency and long-term industrial excellence.
