Star Alliance has officially welcomed ITA Airways as its 26th member, completing the Italian flag carrier’s full integration into the world’s largest airline alliance. The induction ceremony took place at the Piazza di Spagna Lounge, Rome Fiumicino Airport Terminal 3, attended by senior leadership from ITA Airways, Star Alliance, and the Lufthansa Group.

Effective April 1, ITA Airways is now fully connected to the Alliance’s global network, linking its Rome Fiumicino hub and Milan Linate airport to over 1,150 destinations worldwide. Passengers can now avail through check-in, reciprocal frequent flyer recognition, and access to Star Alliance lounges across the network.
The integration was mentored by the Lufthansa Group, whose expert teams facilitated an intensive onboarding programme over several months. ITA Airways brings over 350 daily flights and serves more than 16 million customers annually, strengthening connectivity between Southern Europe and key international markets.With this addition, Star Alliance now operates more than 17,500 daily flights across 190 countries.
