Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy Commander, Alireza Tangsiri, stated that any ship passing through the Strait of Hormuz must provide Iran with its name, nationality, and cargo in Persian language. Tangsiri warned that Iranian naval forces would take necessary action if a vessel fails to comply with this requirement.
The IRGC previously released a video showing an officer communicating with American troops on a US Navy cruiser in Persian, instructing them to leave regional waters and avoid provocative actions. The officer informed the cruiser that the IRGC Navy is responsible for ensuring security in the area, leading the American vessel to correct its route and inform Iran of the change.
