India’s trucking industry suffers Rs 10 crore loss daily as export shipments to Bangladesh halt amid political turmoil.

India’s trucking industry is facing a severe financial setback, with losses of approximately Rs 10 crore every day due to a sharp decline in export shipments to Bangladesh. The impact stems from escalating political and financial instability in Bangladesh, which has caused a disruption in cross-border trade. According to Sajal Ghosh, Secretary of the Federation of West Bengal Truck Operators’ Association, around 45 percent of land-based exports to Bangladesh have come to a halt, significantly affecting demand for trucking services.
Exporters have reported considerable difficulties, citing delays in payments and increased uncertainty regarding trade with Bangladeshi importers. Several exporters have even faced non-payment issues, worsening the situation. With the drop in export volumes, truck demand has plummeted, resulting in a major financial blow to the industry. The halt in land-based exports is exacerbating the overall economic strain, leaving many trucking operators and exporters grappling with the ongoing crisis.
