Textiles and apparel exports surged 7% in FY24 (Apr-Oct), led by readymade garments at $8.73 billion.
India’s textiles and apparel exports, including handicrafts, rose by 7% to $21.35 billion in the April-October period of FY24, up from $20 billion in the same period last year, according to government data.
Key highlights:
- Category Leaders: Readymade garments led with a 41% share ($8,733 million), followed by cotton textiles (33%, $7,082 million) and man-made textiles (15%, $3,105 million).
- Growth Outlook: Exports grew across most categories except wool (-19%) and handloom products (-6%).
- Imports Decline: Textiles and apparel imports saw a slight 1% dip to $5.43 billion during the same period.
The Ministry of Textiles expects sustained growth, reflecting an optimistic export outlook for the sector.
