Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurates Gati Shakti terminal at Maruti Suzuki, boosting auto logistics via ₹800 crore investment.

Union Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated India’s largest automobile Gati Shakti Multi-Modal Cargo Terminal at Maruti Suzuki’s Manesar plant in Haryana on June 17, 2025. The facility, connected to Patli station through a 10 km rail link, is part of the 121.7 km Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor. Built at a cost of ₹800 crore, it can handle up to 4.5 lakh vehicles annually.
Vaishnaw highlighted the Indian Railways’ transformation over the last decade, noting a leap in annual budgets from ₹25,000 crore to ₹2.5 lakh crore. He also announced enhancements to MEMU trains, the rollout of 50 more Namo Bharat trains, and reforms in Tatkal ticket booking from July 1, requiring Aadhaar and KYC authentication.
Indian Railways transported 720 crore passengers and 1,617 million tonnes of freight in FY 2023–24, achieving the world’s second-highest freight volume.
For Haryana, ₹3,416 crore was allocated this year, up from ₹300 crore in 2014. Projects worth ₹11,800 crore are underway, including the modernisation of Sonipat Coach Factory and redevelopment of 34 stations under Amrit Bharat.
