Indian Railways collaborates with a tech firm to deploy KAVACH train collision avoidance system.
Indian Railways has entered into an agreement with a tech firm to explore and execute projects for implementing the KAVACH train collision avoidance system in India and globally, as revealed in a statement. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between RailTel Corporation of India and Quadrant Future Tek, laying the groundwork for their exclusive partnership in delivering targeted KAVACH projects.
KAVACH, an indigenously developed automatic train protection (ATP) system, requires rigorous safety certification and is now being marketed by Indian Railways internationally. RailTel highlighted the priority status of KAVACH implementation on the national railway network, designated as a “National ATP System” by the Ministry of Railways in July 2020.
Quadrant Future Tek is awaiting final approval from the Research Design and Standards Organisation (RDSO) as an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) for the KAVACH project. RailTel, equipped with an expert team in Railway Signalling System, stands ready to undertake significant upgrade projects like KAVACH.
Sanjai Kumar, Chairman-cum-managing director of RailTel, affirmed the commitment to contribute to Indian Railways‘ indigenous safety initiatives and explore opportunities to proliferate the technology globally. Quadrant Future Tek, certified to ISO/IRIS/TS quality management systems, brings its technology-driven expertise to the partnership.
