New scheduled cargo trains aim to boost freight efficiency and ensure reliable transit across northern India.

Indian Railways has launched scheduled, commodity-specific cargo services to strengthen freight logistics and connect major production and consumption hubs in northern India. The initiative is designed to improve customer satisfaction, provide reliable transit times, and offer industry-focused logistics solutions.
The new services include the Annapurna Service from Ludhiana to Varanasi, transporting food grains in about 17 hours; the Gati-Vahan Service from Farrukhnagar to Lucknow for automobiles in 28 hours; the Niryaat Cargo Service from Garhi to Mundra Port for containers in 32 hours; and the Anantnag Cement Cargo Service from Roopnagar to Anantnag, moving cement in 31 hours.
These timetabled services will provide advance information on train arrivals and departures, ensuring predictability and operational efficiency. By offering scheduled transit and industry-aligned solutions, Indian Railways aims to streamline cargo movement, reduce delays, and support the growing logistics needs of northern India’s industrial and commercial sectors.
