Effective immediately and until March 31, 2024, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has made it compulsory to register yellow peas imports under the import monitoring system.
The DGFT notification further stipulates that the restricted import policy, along with associated conditions, will be in force from April 1, 2024. During the specified period, Minimum Import Price (MIP) conditions and port restrictions will not apply to yellow peas imports.
Previously, yellow peas imports were subject to an annual quota with a Minimum Import Price (MIP) of Rs 200 and above CIF (cost, insurance, freight) per kilogram, and entry was limited to the Kolkata Sea port. Notably, India imported yellow peas worth USD 0.14 million in the fiscal year 2022-23, solely from Russia.
