Indian Army and Air Force sign MoU with Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya to enhance logistics skills and boost defence self-reliance.
In a significant development aimed at enhancing the logistics capabilities of the Indian Armed Forces, the Indian Army and Indian Air Force have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, Vadodara. The agreement was formalised in the presence of Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh and Minister of Railways Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, marking a step towards bolstering logistics expertise within the military.
The MoU aims to improve the skillsets of military personnel through advanced logistics education, enabling the Armed Forces to efficiently handle logistical operations in alignment with national development strategies such as the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan 2021 and the National Logistics Policy 2022.
Describing the MoU as a “monumental partnership,” Shri Rajnath Singh emphasised its importance in building a world-class, future-proof logistics system, stating that logistics has evolved from being a support function to becoming a critical element of military operations and national security. He highlighted that a robust logistics system is vital for quick mobilisation of forces and efficient resource distribution, especially under challenging operational conditions. “This collaboration is a key step towards achieving self-reliance in defence,” he added.
Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw echoed Raksha Mantri’s sentiments, emphasising the role Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya will play in empowering the Armed Forces with advanced logistics. education, research, and innovation. He expressed confidence that the institution would become a vital partner in transforming military logistics management.
The MoU provides for experiential learning through real-world case studies and encourages collaboration between military leadership and logistics experts. It is expected to help shape the next generation of logistics managers who can meet the dynamic requirements of modern warfare and enhance national security.
The event was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Railways, and top military leadership, including the Chief of Defence Staff, the Chiefs of Army and Air Force, and the Chairman of the Railway Board.
This partnership marks a significant step in strengthening India’s defence logistics framework, positioning the Armed Forces to better meet future challenges.
