ICAO and WCO issue new guidance for Air Cargo security management

The International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and the World Customs Organisation (WCO) have jointly released the third edition of “Moving Air Cargo Globally,” offering vital guidance to the air cargo industry to effectively manage security threats. The publication outlines the roles and responsibilities of various stakeholders and emphasises the significance of digitalising cargo processes to enhance agility, responsiveness, and security in modern multimodal supply chains.

Addressing high-risk cargo and screening, the guidance includes preventive measures to mitigate insider threats. Recognising the role of international supply chains in sustainable development, ICAO aims to promote seamless security implementation and prevent disruptions that could impact global air transport connectivity. The guidance seeks to ensure operational efficiency and commercial viability while supporting harmonised security standards worldwide.
