Hyundai plans to export upcoming EVs, including Creta EV, boosting India as a production hub.
Hyundai Motor India (HMIL) is planning to expand its electric vehicle (EV) portfolio and explore export opportunities to bolster its status as a production hub for emerging markets. A senior official revealed that the company intends to launch four new electric vehicles, including the electric version of its popular SUV, Creta, by Q4 FY25. These vehicles will cater to the mass and ‘mass premium’ segments.
According to Tarun Garg, COO of HMIL, the company is committed to producing EVs suitable for both Indian and international markets. He stated that Hyundai’s strategy focuses on creating products tailored to Indian consumers while also eyeing export opportunities in markets with similar demands, such as Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America.
Additionally, Hyundai is working towards localising key EV components, including battery packs and drivetrain electronics, to competitively price its vehicles for the Indian market. Currently, HMIL offers the IONIQ5, priced at ₹45 lakh.
