The UAE creates an air bridge to flood-stricken Pakistan and provides free cargo space for humanitarian aid. Five airports in Pakistan will receive direct airlifts of food and other emergency relief supplies. Emirates SkyCargo has established an air bridge between Dubai and Pakistan in order to provide cargo capacity on flights for free in order to transfer relief supplies to those dealing with the damage caused by the disastrous floods.
Organizations based in the largest humanitarian hub in the world, International Humanitarian City (IHC), will be able to transport essential supplies and equipment, food, and other emergency relief items directly to the five airports in Pakistan: Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar, and Sialkot, starting on Friday.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Emirates Group Chairman and Chief Executive, said: “Emirates is deeply connected and committed to Pakistan. From our very first flight in 1985 to Karachi until today, we’ve steadily grown the mutually beneficial air links that facilitate business, tourism, and trade between the UAE and Pakistan. President His Highness Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, have directed urgent aid to Pakistan, mobilising people and businesses across the UAE, and the Emirates are ready to play our part.”
