Guwahati’s Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport has become the first airport in the Northeast to implement the ‘Digi Yatra’ facility. This technology-driven service is accessible at key areas within the airport, including the entrance, check-in, and boarding zones.
The ‘Digi Yatra’ initiative employs facial recognition technology to streamline passenger experiences, eliminating the need for traditional ticket and ID verification processes. This innovation aims to make air travel more convenient and efficient.
Assam’s Industries & Commerce Minister, Chandra Mohan Patowary, stated that this advancement will put an end to long queues and transform the passenger journey. Union Civil Aviation Secretary Rajeev Bansal further explained that passengers can register their documents through the ‘Digi Yatra’ app, and upon facial recognition, the gate will open for a smooth entry.
Initially available for Indigo and Akasa passengers, the service is expected to expand to other airlines in the near future, enhancing the travel experience for a wider range of travelers.
