FIATA, the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations, has announced a strategic partnership with insurtech company Otonomi to provide freight forwarders worldwide with instant digital cargo and delay insurance across air, ocean, and e-commerce shipments.

The collaboration was formalised during the session “Unlocking Value with Emerging Technologies in Freight Forwarding” at the 2026 FIATA HQ Meeting in Geneva, marking a significant step in modernising risk management for the global freight forwarding community. The programme covers sectors such as perishables, pharmaceuticals, aerospace, critical automotive, life sciences, electronics, and e-commerce
Through the partnership, FIATA members can now access Otonomi’s cargo delay insurance directly via the official partnership page, with the ability to request a quote within seconds. By entering key shipment details, including Air Waybill or Bill of Lading Information, Otonomi’s algorithms evaluate potential delays and generate a digital quote instantly, eliminating the need for paperwork or manual underwriting.
Members can customise their coverage by selecting a preferred delay trigger ranging from three to 24 hours, along with their preferred coverage limit. Policy terms are confirmed and issued entirely digitally, ensuring a seamless and frictionless experience.
The partnership is specifically designed to help freight forwarders reduce business disruption risks arising from shipment delays, a challenge that has become increasingly critical in the current global logistics environment marked by route disruptions, airspace closures, and volatile supply chains.
