Emirates SkyCargo cautions customers about delays amid backlog after heavy rainfall.
Emirates SkyCargo has alerted customers to anticipate delays as it grapples with backlogs following record rainfall in the UAE, resulting in the closure of Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Dubai World Central (DWC).
The UAE witnessed its heaviest rainfall in 75 years, with nearly 26cm of rain, leading to the cancellation of approximately 300 flights on Wednesday. While airports gradually reopened, Emirates SkyCargo advises of delays at both DXB and DWC. The carrier assures customers of processing backlogged cargo but urges understanding for potential shipment delays.
DXB announced temporary limitations on inbound flights to facilitate recovery efforts. Cargo capacity at Dubai airports has decreased by approximately 16 percent week on week, with significant declines from various regions. Despite challenges, intra-Middle East capacity shows a slight increase, indicating a gradual improvement in operations compared to the previous day.
