DP World pioneers sustainable development disclosure, shaping global impact standards.
DP World has taken a groundbreaking step by releasing its Sustainable Development Impact Disclosure (SDID), becoming the first company worldwide to adopt new impact guidelines. The release of SDID aligns with the Impact Disclosure Taskforce’s recent guidance, setting a precedent for transparent and accountable development practices.
DP World’s initiative calls for public feedback during a four-month consultation period, aiming to refine the guidance. The disclosure framework highlights private sector companies and sovereigns’ roles in driving transformation through large-scale infrastructure development in emerging markets.
Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, DP World Group Chairman and CEO, emphasised the company’s commitment to sustainable development and industry-wide accountability. Developed with guidance from the Impact Disclosure Taskforce, SDID employs impact measurement and monitoring to assess investments’ effects on advancing UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The framework fosters transparency, accountability, and genuine commitment to sustainable development, empowering global capital markets to make informed financing decisions. DP World and the Taskforce encourage industry feedback to enhance the effectiveness of SDID, urging experts and stakeholders to contribute insights by September 1st, 2024.
