DGFT’s outreach in Delhi highlights India-UK CETA as a game-changer for exporters and MSMEs seeking UK market access.

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) organised an outreach programme in New Delhi to familiarise exporters with the opportunities under the recently concluded India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA).
Director General of Foreign Trade, Ajay Bhadoo, stressed the Agreement’s role in expanding India’s footprint in the UK market by providing tariff concessions and simpler access conditions. He urged exporters, particularly MSMEs, to align with global value chains to maximise benefits.
Adding context, Joint Secretary, Department of Commerce, Saket Kumar, explained the strategic importance of the negotiations. From the UK side, Deputy Trade Commissioner, Anna Shotbolt, termed CETA a “milestone in bilateral trade ties” and encouraged Indian businesses to meet sustainability and quality benchmarks.
Export Promotion Councils also highlighted sector-specific potential, including agriculture, textiles, gems and jewellery, engineering goods, and services such as IT and education. The event concluded with industry-buyer interactions, underscoring supply chain transparency and innovation as key to strengthening India-UK trade.
