Deendayal Port inks landmark deal for a 5 MW green hydrogen plant, a first for Indian ports aimed at decarbonisation.

On 28 January 2026, Deendayal Port Authority entered into a formal contract with Oswal Greenzo Energies to establish a 5 MW green hydrogen facility at its Kandla site. This development represents the first instance of a port-based hydrogen plant in the nation, focusing on the design and full commissioning of the infrastructure.
- Capacity: The plant is projected to generate roughly 840 metric tons of green hydrogen every year.
- Environmental Goals: The clean fuel will power port machinery, logistics, and transport, significantly lowering carbon output in the maritime sector.
- Strategic Alignment: This initiative supports the National Green Hydrogen Mission and broader efforts toward domestic industrial self-reliance.
Sushil Kumar Singh, Chairperson of the Authority, described the move as a transformative step for India’s maritime future, positioning the terminal as a leader in sustainable development. Ratan Bokadia, Managing Director of Oswal Energies, noted that the partnership validates their technical proficiency in advanced energy systems and supports the national transition to renewable power.
