The Commerce Department revolutionises exports with digital platforms, enhanced MSME support, and streamlined processes, paving the way for global trade dominance.
In its first 100 days, the Department of Commerce (DoC) has focused on empowering exporters, simplifying procedures, and fostering economic growth through innovative initiatives.
- Trade Connect e-Platform: A comprehensive e-platform now connects over 6 lakh IEC holders, 185 Indian Mission officials, and 600 Export Promotion Council members with the DGFT, DoC offices, and banks. This streamlines exports for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), enhancing transparency and ease of business.
- Enhanced MSME Export Insurance: The government introduced enhanced insurance cover for MSME exporters, providing ₹20,000 crore in credit at lower costs, benefiting 10,000 exporters.
- Self-Certified eBRC System: The new electronic Bank Realisation Certificate system saves ₹125 crore in compliance costs and simplifies export claims, especially for small exporters and e-commerce businesses.
- E-Commerce Export Hub (ECEH): The ECEH aims to boost cross-border trade, with projected exports of USD 100 billion by 2030. It connects SMEs, artisans, and ODOP producers to global markets, enhancing employment and regional growth.
- GeM Portal MSME Participation: Reduced transaction costs and pricing slabs on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) make high-value orders more affordable for MSMEs.
- Bharat Mart in Dubai: This hub will provide Indian MSMEs cost-effective access to GCC, African, and CIS markets, expanding exports.
- Jansunwai Platform: A new platform eliminates intermediaries, allowing direct communication between businesses and the Department of Commerce for ease of doing business.
- Strengthened Organic Regulatory Ecosystem: The National Programme of Organic Production (NPOP) is revamped, benefiting 20 lakh farmers with enhanced certification and export opportunities.
- Pradhan Mantri Cha Shramik Protsahan Yojana (PMCSPY): Over 10 lakh workers in Assam and West Bengal’s tea gardens now benefit from improved healthcare, education, and rest facilities.
- ICEGATE Expansion: The ICEGATE portal now covers all non-IT/ITES SEZ units, improving access to export incentives and 24/7 support.
These initiatives underscore the government’s commitment to expanding India’s global trade footprint while improving domestic welfare.
