CMA CGM and Pasqal join forces to introduce quantum computing in maritime transport and logistics.
The CMA CGM Group has announced a strategic partnership with Pasqal, a French pioneer in neutral atom quantum computing. This collaboration aims to integrate cutting-edge quantum computing technologies into CMA CGM’s operations, with the Group also investing in Pasqal.
Through this partnership, CMA CGM plans to leverage quantum computing to improve efficiency, responsiveness, and adaptability in transport and logistics amidst market fluctuations. A key focus will be optimising container management, including their loading on ships. To support these efforts, CMA CGM and Pasqal will establish a Quantum Computing Centre of Excellence at Tangram, CMA CGM’s innovation and training hub, featuring access to a quantum processor developed by Pasqal.
Hadi Zablit, Executive Vice President of Information & Technology at CMA CGM Group, emphasised the significance of this partnership in advancing the Group’s digital transformation. “This partnership with Pasqal will allow CMA CGM to apply quantum computing technologies to maritime transport and logistics, reinforcing our Group’s position as a leader in the digital transformation of our industry,” Zablit stated.
Georges-Olivier Reymond, CEO of Pasqal, highlighted the alignment of the partnership with Pasqal’s goals. “All of Pasqal’s priorities are reflected in this partnership with CMA CGM: developing concrete use cases with leading industrial players, accelerating the understanding of the potential of quantum computing, and continuing cutting-edge research to serve the quantum ecosystem,” Reymond said.
This initiative is part of CMA CGM Group’s broader strategy to innovate and transform its operations, building on previous investments in technology and AI initiatives like Kyutai and Mistral AI.
