Challenge Group introduces a scheduled freighter route between Mumbai and Liège, enhancing cargo connections for pharmaceuticals, electronics, and specialised shipments.
Challenge Group unveils plans to initiate a scheduled freighter route linking Mumbai (BOM) and Liège (LGG), operating twice weekly. Leveraging the capacity of its newly acquired Boeing 767 freighter, capable of carrying up to 52 tons per uplift, the service will cater primarily to pharmaceuticals and electronics, alongside specialised main deck cargo.
The company’s strategic move follows the delivery of its first Boeing 767-300 freighter in August last year, with the second freighter recently acquired through a conversion process completed by Avia Prime Group-owned MRO JAT Tehnika. Challenge Group anticipates the arrival of two more converted 767-300 freighters by the third quarter of this year.
Or Zak, Chief Commercial Officer at Challenge Group, highlights the service’s significance in meeting the rising demand for direct India-Europe connections, particularly amidst India’s increasing role as a manufacturing hub. Zak emphasises the extensive market preparation undertaken over the past year, including charter operations across key Indian airports like DEL, HYD, and BLR.
Rainbow Aviation, the group’s GSSA partner, manages Challenge Group’s Indian cargo capacity, offering bookings to the entire Indian freight forwarding community. With plans to operate a mix of 12 Boeing freighters by 2026, including converted 767 and 777 aircraft, in addition to its existing three 747Fs, Challenge Group aims to further solidify its presence in the global cargo market.
