CBIC inaugurates IIFF Southern Chapter in Chennai to boost skill development.
The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of the Southern Chapter of the Indian Institute of Freight Forwarders (IIFF) in collaboration with the Chennai Customs Brokers Association (CCBA). Surjit Bhujabal, IRS, Member (Customs), CBIC, officiated the event, emphasising the pivotal role of skill development in transforming the logistics sector.
Key dignitaries, including Dr. Ram Niwas, Chief Commissioner of Customs, and S. Viswanathan, Deputy Chairman of Chennai Port, lauded FFFAI’s efforts in fostering professionalism and training in customs broking and freight forwarding. The initiative focuses on reskilling professionals and encouraging inclusivity, particularly for women and MSMEs, while addressing the challenges posed by digitisation and evolving global trade dynamics.
IIFF, founded in 2005, remains the sole FIATA-accredited institute in India, committed to enhancing industry standards. Training modules in collaboration with IIM and IIFT aim to cultivate skilled manpower, positioning IIFF as a leader in logistics education. The event concluded with training sessions on digital compliance, showcasing IIFF’s dedication to modernisation and growth.
