BLR Airport passenger traffic hit 43.82 million in 2025, with cargo volumes rising to 520,985 tonnes amid global growth.

Kempegowda International Airport concluded the 2025 calendar year by reinforcing its position as a premier logistics hub, handling a total of 520,985 metric tonnes of cargo. This performance represents a 5 percent year-on-year increase compared to 2024, driven by high demand for agri-perishables, pharmaceuticals, automotive parts, electronics, and e-commerce shipments.
The airport achieved a significant milestone on 07th August 2025, recording its highest-ever single-day cargo throughput of 2,207 metric tonnes. By the end of the year, the facility was connected to 37 cargo destinations through a network of 15 domestic and international freight carriers.
The international export market was led by Chicago, Singapore, London Heathrow, Frankfurt, and Leipzig. On the import side, the primary volumes originated from Shenzhen, Shanghai, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, and Singapore. This robust network highlights the airport’s role as a critical gateway for global trade.
The logistics sector at the airport saw substantial capacity expansion during the year:
- Domestic Cargo Terminal: Developed by Menzies Aviation Bengaluru, this facility became fully operational in 2025. It stands as the largest greenfield domestic cargo terminal in India in terms of physical infrastructure and capacity.
- AISATS BLR Logistics Park: Launched in April 2025, this Grade A warehouse facility spans 8.2 acres with a built-up area of 370,000 square feet, significantly enhancing the airport’s storage and processing capabilities.
Girish Nair, Chief Operating Officer of BIAL, noted that the airport strategically scaled cargo operations with a focus on future readiness. The steady growth in volumes reflects the increasing trust of global logistics partners in the Bengaluru hub.
Heading into 2026, the airport plans to continue scaling its cargo capacity and expanding partnerships with airline freighters. These efforts are aimed at supporting the long-term growth of Bengaluru as a leading global business and aviation gateway.
