BITS Pilani-Hyderabad launches a cutting-edge wind tunnel to boost aerospace, automotive, and renewable energy research.
Hyderabad Campus inaugurated the Nalini Kurra Wind Tunnel Facility, a groundbreaking addition to its research infrastructure. Designed entirely in-house, this state-of-the-art facility promises to advance research in aerodynamics, renewable energy, and engineering innovation.
Funded by alumnus Goutham Kurra, Co-founder of Wisq and Glint, the facility symbolises his commitment to fostering innovation at his alma mater. The event was graced by global tech leader Raju Reddy, Co-founder of Kakatiya Sandbox and Sierra Atlantic.
The wind tunnel enables precise simulations of airflow over objects, supporting projects in aerospace, drone technology, electric vehicles, and wind turbines. It also provides a testing platform for startups and strengthens interdisciplinary student projects.
Vice Chancellor V. Ramgopal Rao highlighted its role in advancing research excellence, while Director Soumyo Mukherji emphasised its potential to empower students and faculty to address global engineering challenges.
This facility marks a significant step toward fostering innovation, partnerships, and hands-on learning at BITS Pilani.
