The construction of the road connecting Bengaluru and Jalasuru is expected to conclude within six months, according to Agriculture and Mandya District In-Charge Minister N Cheluvarayaswamy. The road project, approved in 2018 and initiated in 2020, traverses Kaudle Gate, Nagamangala, Bogadi Magadi, Somwarpet, and Jalasuru. Delays attributed to the COVID-19 pandemic and land acquisition challenges due to forest land passage affected progress. A total of 13 kilometers of the road pass through forested areas, requiring state-level discussions for resolution.
The proposal for using 63 acres of forest land has been submitted to the Union government, with 126 acres designated for transfer to the forest department. Technical issues at eight locations are also being addressed, while plans for a textile park and garment industries near Nagamangala are in progress.
