A new pact between Banas Dairy and BBSSL aims to bolster India’s seed-to-market supply chain and logistics efficiency.

A significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been formalised between Banas Dairy and Bharatiya Beej Sahakari Samiti (BBSSL) to establish a comprehensive seed-to-market value chain. This strategic partnership, announced in a written response to the Rajya Sabha on 17 December 2025, aligns with the national ‘Sahakar Se Samriddhi’ vision, promoting collaboration between cooperatives to enhance farmer prosperity and streamline agricultural logistics.
The initiative focuses on the production of certified, disease-free seed potatoes, leveraging advanced tissue culture and aeroponic facilities. By integrating scientific cultivation methods with robust supply chain management, the agreement ensures end-to-end traceability and quality control from the laboratory to the final consumer.
From an EXIM perspective, the partnership aims to achieve self-reliance in seed production, thereby reducing dependency on international imports. The framework introduces structured post-harvest management, including:
- Cold storage linkages: Integrating advanced cooling solutions to maintain crop integrity.
- Grading and handling systems: Standardising output to meet stringent global trade requirements.
- Direct market access: Facilitating efficient logistics through Banas Dairy’s extensive distribution and processing network.
This pilot project is designed to minimise input losses and increase the resilience of the agricultural sector. Based on the outcomes of this initial phase, the government intends to explore the replication of this model in other major producing regions across the country. By combining technological innovation with the strength of the cooperative sector, the agreement marks a milestone in modernising India’s domestic and international trade corridors.
The project reinforces a commitment to building a digitally enabled and formalised agricultural economy, ensuring that the supply chain remains competitive and sustainable for the future.
