AEPC convenes in New Delhi to boost garment exports, targeting USD 40 billion by 2030.
In a recent meeting held in New Delhi, the Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) gathered with buying agencies and liaison officers of overseas brands to strategize increasing Indian garment exports to USD 40 billion by 2030.
Sudhir Sekhri, AEPC Chairman, highlighted the necessary measures to bolster exports, including participation in 17 international trade fairs across various continents, with focus destinations such as Saudi Arabia, Poland, Mexico, and others. The council also plans to extend outreach through Bharat Tex, showcasing Indian textile and garment capabilities. Free trade agreements with Mauritius and Australia have yielded positive results, with notable growth in exports to these countries.
Rohit Kansal, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Textiles, emphasised strengthening engagement with brands and scaling up manufacturing capacities. Shubhra, Trade Advisor, urged proactive measures to address social compliance issues in the textile value chain.
