In a significant move towards closer integration, the Indian civil aviation regulator has granted approval for AirAsia India to operate its flights under the Air India Express brand. This decision aims to streamline customer touchpoints, products, and services, fostering a seamless travel experience. Both airlines can now market, distribute, and operate their flights under the common name ‘Air India Express’ before their scheduled legal merger, paving the way for harmonisation of standards and unlocking potential synergies.
The successful integration process has already seen the launch of a unified website,, allowing users to access services from both carriers on a single platform. Passengers can now enjoy AirAsia India’s ‘Gourmair’ in-flight dining menu and benefit from the ‘Xpress Ahead’ priority services, which offer priority check-in, boarding, and baggage handling.
With 20 Indian cities and 14 regional international destinations served by Air India Express, and 19 domestic destinations covered by AirAsia India, the collaboration promises enhanced travel convenience and satisfaction for passengers.
