Air India completes its first airport-to-door pharma delivery to Brussels via Paris in a precise 36-hour cold chain journey.

Air India’s cargo division has achieved a major milestone by completing its first international airport-to-door delivery of temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals. The six-tonne shipment, originating from Delhi and destined for a Brussels warehouse, was delivered in under 36 hours through a multi-modal operation involving air transport and road feeder services.
Carried for SUN Pharma, the load comprised four lower-deck pallets requiring a stable temperature range of 15–25°C. After arrival in Paris, the shipment was transferred to a temperature-controlled truck and transported overland to Brussels. This seamless handover showcased precision logistics and compliance with global pharmaceutical handling standards.
Air India recently secured Good Distribution Practices (GDP) certification, affirming its capability to manage active pharmaceutical ingredients with trained personnel. Ramesh Mamidala, Head of Cargo, highlighted this as a pivotal step in transitioning from traditional airport-to-airport services to high-quality airport-to-door solutions.
The operation also reflects Air India’s growing global cargo reach, moving over 4,000 tonnes of pharma in 2024–25. The carrier plans to expand such deliveries across its 88-destination network.
