At India Maritime Week 2025, Adani Ports to ink major MoUs boosting Make-in-India, green ports, and harbour services.

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) is set to make major waves at India Maritime Week (IMW) 2025, signing multiple long-term Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) that will strengthen India’s marine, port, and dredging capabilities under its Harbour Business.
Held from October 27 to 31, 2025, at the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai, India Maritime Week 2025, organised by the Indian Ports Association, is one of the world’s largest maritime gatherings. This year’s edition is expected to host over 100,000 delegates, 500 exhibitors, and 200+ global speakers from 100 countries, all coming together to chart the future of the global maritime economy.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the event on October 29, followed by the Global Maritime CEO Forum, further underscoring India’s ambition to emerge as a global maritime powerhouse.
Strengthening Leadership in Harbour and Dredging Services
Under its Harbour Business, APSEZ will sign key MoUs that reinforce its dominance in marine services:
- With Mumbai Port Authority for the supply and charter hire of six ASTDS tugs for seven years and one Green Tug for 15 years.
- With VO Chidambaranar Port Authority, Tuticorin, for the charter hire of two harbour tugs for seven years.
- With Chennai Port Authority for one 60 TBP escort tug vessel.
- With the Directorate General of Shipping, for the construction of 12 tugboats, to be signed in Modi’s presence on October 29.
In the dredging segment, APSEZ will sign an MoU to build a self-propelled grab dredger, marking another milestone in India’s indigenous maritime engineering capabilities.
Driving Green Ports, Digitalization, and Inclusion
Through its pavilion, APSEZ will highlight how technology, inclusion, Make-in-India innovation, and sustainability are shaping India’s maritime growth story. The APSEZ Pavilion is built around four pillars: Aatmanirbhar Bharat, Women Empowerment, AI-powered Logistics, and Impact.
Showcasing the future of Indian port infrastructure, the pavilion will feature India’s first trailing suction hopper dredger simulator, developed indigenously by ARI Simulation for APSEZ under the Make in India initiative, a symbol of India’s growing self-reliance in maritime technology.
Empowering People and Skills for the Blue Economy
At Vizhinjam Port, India’s first transshipment hub, APSEZ has deployed the country’s first women quay crane operators, promoting gender inclusion in port operations. Its Zero Touch Multi-Modal Logistics Platform integrates ports, rail, road, and waterways through AI-driven predictive analytics, reducing logistics costs and improving efficiency.
Through Adani Skills & Education, over 8,000 youth have been trained in ports and logistics, achieving 100% employment. The flagship Karma Shiksha programme, India’s first NCVET-accredited diploma in Ports & Logistics, blends theory with practical training. Across its network, 53,000 individuals have received safety training, and 7,000 youth and women have been skilled at Adani Krishnapatnam Port alone.
Boosting India’s Blue Economy and Regional Leadership
India’s Blue Economy, contributing nearly 4% to GDP ($13.2 billion), is emerging as a key growth frontier spanning fisheries, coastal tourism, renewables, and logistics. With 100% FDI in port infrastructure and green initiatives such as the Green Tug Transition Programme and Harit Sagar Guidelines, India is charting a course toward sustainable maritime growth.
APSEZ’s global presence, from Haifa (Israel) and Colombo (Sri Lanka) to Queensland (Australia) and Dar es Salaam (Tanzania), reinforces India’s SAGAR Vision (Security and Growth for All in the Region), strengthening cooperation and trade resilience across the Indo-Pacific.
As India sails into the Decade of the Seas, APSEZ’s leadership, rooted in innovation, sustainability, and inclusivity, epitomises the nation’s maritime ambition: self-reliant, green, and globally competitive.
