The multi-modal logistics parks (MMLPs) are proposed to be carried out through public-private partnership (PPP) under the design, construction, finance, operation, and transfer (DBFOT) under the Bharatmala Pariyojana program. MMLPs are a core tenet of the National Logistics Policy, which intends to reduce the cost of moving products in the nation.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had stated in September that the nation must reduce commercial logistics costs from 13–14 per cent to single digits.
As per the officials, the bids have been opened and are currently being examined. The criteria for awarding a multi-modal logistics park (MMLP)—large cargo handling facilities with specialised storage like temperature-controlled warehouses and an inter-modal transfer container terminal that connects them to various modes of transportation like railways and highways—is the minimum guaranteed revenue share offered to the Center.
