Thiruvananthapuram Airport handled a record 444 MT of domestic cargo in October, up 9.4 per cent over its previous high.

Thiruvananthapuram International Airport handled a record 444 metric tonnes (MT) of domestic cargo in October, a 9.4 per cent increase over its previous monthly high. The volume surpassed the earlier record of 406 MT set in June 2026, with an additional 38 MT handled during the month, according to a statement issued by the airport on November 3, 2026.
The airport said the record reflects growing demand for air cargo services from Kerala and greater participation of businesses, courier operators and logistics partners in its domestic cargo network. Mobile phones were among the major commodities contributing to the growth, with shipments arriving in larger numbers from Delhi. Optical lens movement from Mumbai also rose by over 145 per cent after a logistics partner began routing consignments through the airport.
Courier and consolidated cargo operations gained momentum, with some agencies starting outbound consolidated cargo operations directly from Thiruvananthapuram instead of routing them through Kochi. Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai and Hyderabad were the top five domestic destinations and origin markets.
The airport said the start of EXIM operations at Vizhinjam International Seaport is expected to create fresh opportunities for the region’s logistics sector.
