Envirotainer has opened a new cold chain station in Navi Mumbai, doubling its existing Mumbai capacity and strengthening pharmaceutical logistics in India’s western corridor.
Envirotainer, the global leader in secure cold chain solutions for temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals, has opened a new station in Navi Mumbai, its sixth in India. The facility doubles the capacity of the company’s existing Mumbai operation and significantly expands access to temperature-controlled solutions for pharmaceutical manufacturers in India’s western pharmaceutical corridor. The station provides customers with access to Envirotainer’s full portfolio of temperature-controlled packaging solutions and introduces local preconditioning capabilities for its parcel and ProofTainer solutions. A dedicated repair and service centre is scheduled to open in the coming months. The station is strategically positioned ahead of the expected launch of cargo operations at Navi Mumbai International Airport later this year.
The investment reflects India’s growing importance in global healthcare supply chains. India supplies approximately 20 per cent of the world’s generic medicines and 55 to 60 per cent of UNICEF’s vaccine requirements, while pharmaceutical exports reached USD 30.5 billion in 2024-25. Aymeric Chandavoine, Chief Executive Officer of Envirotainer, said the opening of the Navi Mumbai station reflected the company’s long-term commitment to supporting India’s pharmaceutical industry and helping ensure that life-saving treatments reached patients safely. Edward Ng, Vice President of Operations for Asia Pacific at Envirotainer, said the expansion brought greater capacity, local preconditioning capabilities and enhanced service support closer to one of India’s most important pharmaceutical export corridors. Envirotainer’s global network spans more than 300 airports and 3,300 trade lanes worldwide.
