Prime Minister Modi and HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan align on the need for safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz as the West Asia crisis continues.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, on 17 March 2026, conveying advance Eid greetings and discussing the evolving situation in West Asia.
During the call, PM Modi reiterated India’s strong condemnation of all attacks on the UAE that have resulted in loss of innocent lives and damage to civilian infrastructure. Both leaders agreed on the critical importance of ensuring safe and free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, through which a significant share of global energy and trade flows pass.
The two leaders affirmed that India and the UAE will continue to work together towards the early restoration of peace, security, and stability in the region.
