Piyush Goyal stated smaller, remote businesses will now access data previously available only to larger enterprises.

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal stated on Nov 18, 2025 that businesses must be more open with trade data in order to assist stakeholders in making the best choices. He made this statement while introducing a trade intelligence portal.
According to him, the Trade Intelligence & Analytics (TIA) portal will provide new insights for importers, exporters, startups, and micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). He added that smaller businesses, even those located in remote areas, will now have access to data that was previously exclusive to larger enterprises.
He also remarked that the platform will enable exporters to better exploit the free trade agreements (FTAs). Describing the present world tariff situation as a wake-up call, he said the government and the business sector must pool resources at this vital moment to avoid regretting a lost opportunity.
Goyal urged stakeholders to bring their issues and promised them that the ministry would make every effort to resolve them.
If an issue concerns the department directly, it will be rectified immediately; if it concerns other departments, commerce will actively cooperate and work towards a solution, he added, urging stakeholders to be more demanding so that essential reforms could be accelerated.
Goyal said the Ministry of Trade and Industry had put in substantial effort to build this platform. He said the portal has the ability to boost trade diversification, broaden India’s trading basket to newer locations and newer products, and help detect lost possibilities.
Recognising the need for a robust intelligence and analytics framework to support evidence-based policymaking and enable targeted sectoral interventions, the Department of Commerce launched the creation of the TIA site in March 2024. The department found it vital to enhance these capabilities across all commodities and territory divisions, export promotion councils (EPCs), and missions abroad in target nations.
The portal delivers more than 270 interactive visualisations across over 28 dashboards. According to the Ministry, the new, exhaustive TIA portal centralises trade data, vastly improving its usability and accessibility. This replaces former trade information systems, including the Tradestat, Niryat, and Commerce Monitoring Dashboard portals.
Database collation has been automated via APIs for easier user access, and a seamless data extraction capability has been established to obtain commodity and nation data, it said. Automation has also been performed for workflows such as the Monthly Trade Report (more than 300 pages) and surge reports created in two variants based on trade alert data and final data (each more than 30 pages), it noted.
