The carriers strengthen their alliance, increasing China–Europe flights to meet growing cross-border e-commerce demand.

Qatar Airways Cargo and Cainiao have announced an expanded strategic partnership aimed at accelerating cross-border e-commerce logistics. The collaboration, formalised at the Cainiao Global Smart Logistics Summit in Hangzhou on 10 September, saw Mark Drusch, Chief Officer Cargo at Qatar Airways Cargo, and Wan Lin, CEO of Cainiao, sign the agreement in the presence of Sheikh Ali Alwaleed Al-Thani of Invest Qatar.
Under the expanded alliance, Cainiao will more than double weekly charter flights on key China–Europe routes, utilising Qatar Airways Cargo’s global network and fleet. This will offer merchants greater flexibility and faster delivery options, supporting Chinese businesses expanding internationally.
Drusch highlighted the importance of China as a major trade partner and praised the partnership for enhancing global connectivity. Lin emphasised the move as a step toward Cainiao’s goal of global delivery within 72 hours. The collaboration aims to boost efficiency in Sino-European trade while setting new benchmarks in cross-border logistics.
