IIM Mumbai drives logistics education, launching courses to bridge a major skill gap.
In alignment with India’s logistics goals, IIM Mumbai is spearheading efforts to address the sector’s growing demand for skilled manpower. Over 1.15 crore professionals will be required by 2030, adding to the existing 2.25 crore workforce.
Designated as the nodal hub for logistics and supply chain under the National Education Policy (NEP), IIM Mumbai is introducing specialised courses tailored to industry needs. The institute has launched 14 PM Gati Shakti courses and seven online programs on platforms like SWAYAM, covering areas such as AI/ML in port management, blockchain in supply chains, and warehouse automation.
Director Manoj Tiwari emphasised the need for curriculum revisions, integrating real-world case studies and emerging technologies like digital twins, robotics, and blockchain. With the establishment of two Centers of Excellence, IIM Mumbai also aims to promote innovation and capacity-building under the PM Gati Shakti Master Plan, ensuring India remains a leader in logistics innovation and education.
